SENIOR CONTROL ENGINEER

Position Summary

Accelevation LLC, recognized as the #1 fastest-growing employer in 2024 by the Dayton Business Journal, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Control Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of industrial control systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PLC programming, SCADA system integration, and experience with paralleling switchgear in power generation or industrial environments. This role involves both project leadership and hands-on engineering responsibilities, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and efficient automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.)
• Develop and maintain SCADA/HMI systems (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, GE iFIX, or similar)
• Lead the design and commissioning of paralleling switchgear controls, including synchronization, load sharing, and protection logic
• Create control narratives, functional specifications, and I/O lists
• Oversee system integration, testing, and site commissioning
• Support electrical and mechanical teams with control system requirements
• Lead or mentor junior control engineers and technicians
• Collaborate with project managers to define project scopes, budgets, and schedules
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and customer specifications
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for installed systems

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in control systems engineering, including PLC and SCADA systems
• Proficient in ladder logic, function block, and structured text programming
• Deep understanding of paralleling switchgear operation, including generator synchronization & load control
• Experience with power generation systems (diesel, gas, CHP, or renewable integration preferred)
• Familiarity with industry protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, DNP3, etc.)
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Willingness to travel for site commissioning and support (up to 20%)

Preferred Qualifications
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or working toward licensure
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN for control panel design
• Knowledge of NFPA 70, 70E, UL1008, UL508A, and IEEE standards
• Experience with backup power systems, microgrid controls, or utility interconnection
