Electrical Engineer Job Description
An Electrical Engineer designs, develops, tests, and maintains electrical systems, equipment, and components used in industries such as power generation, manufacturing, telecommunications, construction, transportation, and electronics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems, circuits, and equipment.
- Develop technical specifications, drawings, and schematics.
- Perform calculations and simulations to ensure system performance and safety.
- Test, troubleshoot, and improve electrical components and systems.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, project managers, technicians, and clients.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and project plans.
- Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
- Analyze system failures and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources when required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of electrical design principles, power systems, control systems, or electronics.
- Proficiency with engineering software such as AutoCAD, MATLAB, ETAP, or similar tools.
- Understanding of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, renewable energy systems, or industrial automation.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and sustainability practices.
