Role Overview:
We are looking for a technically sound Electrical Engineer with a commercial mindset to drive project sales of electrical panels and switchgear solutions. This role is a unique blend of Technical Sales, Design Engineering, and After-Sales Support. You will act as the primary technical interface for clients, translating their needs into feasible designs, managing order execution, and ensuring satisfaction post-delivery. Your goal is to build long-term customer relationships by offering reliable electrical solutions, from initial inquiry to final commissioning and support.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Sales & Solution Design
-
Drive Project Sales: Identify customer requirements, prepare technical proposals, and offer optimized switchgear and panel solutions (LT/HT panels, MCC, PCC, APFC, etc.) to meet client specifications.
-
Prepare Cost-Effective Bids: Generate accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and costing based on Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and project requirements using MIS, ensuring competitive pricing and required margins.
-
Technical Clarifications: Engage with clients/consultants to resolve technical queries, offer value engineering suggestions, and finalize design approvals.
-
Product Selection: Select appropriate switchgear components (MCBs, MCCBs, ACB, VFDs, relays, PLCs) based on application requirements, ensuring both technical feasibility and commercial viability.
-
Commercial Negotiation: Support the sales team in price negotiations by justifying the technical value and quality of the proposed solutions.
2. Design & Production Coordination (Pre-Sales to Execution)
-
Design Documentation: Prepare electrical design documents: Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, terminal layouts, and GA drawings using AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar tools specifically tailored to customer orders.
-
Production Handover: Coordinate with the production team to ensure the designed panel is assembled as per approved drawings and client standards.
-
Material Optimization: Optimize material usage to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency during the production phase.
-
Technical Guidance: Provide guidance to panel assemblers and troubleshoot production issues that may arise during the building phase.
3. Project Execution & Site Commissioning
-
Site Readiness: Review site conditions and ensure panel compatibility with existing infrastructure (power supply, earthing, cable routing) prior to delivery.
-
Installation Oversight: Guide installation teams on mounting, busbar connections, cable terminations, and grounding as per electrical drawings.
-
Testing & Commissioning: Conduct pre-energization checks (insulation resistance, continuity, torque) and perform functional testing of breakers, relays, and control circuits.
-
Client Handover: Coordinate with clients/consultants for witness testing and commissioning sign-off, delivering the project "turnkey" style.
4. After-Sales Support & Customer Retention
-
Troubleshooting: Act as the primary responder for customer service requests related to faults, tripping, overheating, or control failures—both via remote support and on-site visits.
-
Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Conduct root cause analysis of recurring issues and suggest corrective actions or design improvements to prevent future failures.
-
Service Revenue: Identify opportunities for service contracts, Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs), or component replacements during after-sales visits.
-
Reporting: Maintain detailed service logs, commissioning reports, and communicate project status/sales leads to senior management.
5. Customer Training & Documentation
-
Client Training: Provide operational training to clients on panel handling, maintenance schedules, and safety protocols.
-
Documentation: Submit as-built drawings, operation manuals, and warranty documents to the client upon project closure.
-
Database Management: Maintain a comprehensive database of installed panels, service history, and customer interaction logs for future upselling.
Skills & Qualifications:
-
Education: B.E. in Electrical Engineering.
-
Experience: 3+ years of experience in project sales, estimation, or design of Low/Medium Voltage switchgear and control panels.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/EPLAN for reading/modifying designs.
- Strong knowledge of control panels, protection devices, wiring standards, and relevant IS/IEC standards.
-
Commercial Acumen: Ability to prepare quotations, negotiate pricing, and understand profit margins.
-
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Must be comfortable interacting with high-level clients and consultants.
-
Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively for client meetings and site support.
