Position Title: Sr. Firmware Engineer (Medical Device / Regulated Industry)
Location: Valencia, CA Hybrid onsite
Duration of Contract: 12+ Months (Minimum through April 1st, 2026; likely extension)
Schedule: (9/80 schedule; every other Friday off)

Scope of Work:
Join a highly specialized team working on a next-generation medical device platform. You ll contribute to embedded firmware development in a regulated environment with an emphasis on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), real-time operating systems (RTOS), and power-efficient ARM Cortex-M microcontroller development.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and optimize embedded firmware for low-power medical devices.
• Work on new and existing firmware across modules including charger and implant components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet compliance with regulatory standards (ISO 13485, IEC 62304).
• Implement and support BLE communication and possibly wireless charging features.
• Support hardware integration and interface with electrical engineering teams.
• Participate in documentation, planning, and software dependency mapping per regulated processes.
• Ensure real-time performance and stability in firmware solutions using RTOS.
Necessary Skills:
• Embedded Firmware Development (preferably in regulated industries like medical, aerospace, automotive)
• Programming language: Embedded C
• Microcontroller Experience: Strong preference for ARM Cortex-M
• RTOS Experience: Micrium or FreeRTOS preferred. SafeRTOS or VxWorks is a plus.
• Wireless Protocols: BLE required; wireless charging experience is a bonus.
• Low Power Design: Emphasis on power efficiency is critical.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with standards such as:
• ISO 13485, IEC 62304 (Medical)
• ISO 26262 (Automotive, optional but relevant) Other regulated industries mindset is key
• Hardware Familiarity: Ability to interface with hardware; board bring-up and debugging experience helpful.
• Team Player: Strong collaboration skills and willingness to contribute across team boundaries.
Nice to Have:
• Experience with Silicon Labs hardware and tools
• Familiarity with SafeRTOS (paid variant of FreeRTOS)
• Knowledge of VxWorks
• Experience in BLE-heavy environments and wireless charging
• Any past work with Sy Labs platforms
