Responsibilities
• Design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities.
• Perform relay one line design and three line AC schematic design.
• Create DC protection schematic designs and panel layouts.
• Develop bill of materials based on design criteria.
• Conduct quality control checks on wiring designs.
• Provide complete project lifecycle support from scoping to final design and implementation.
• Offer construction support and apply National Electrical Safety Code standards to design processes.
• Collaborate with designers and drafters to create required project drawings.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field with four (4+) years of substation protection control design experience for senior-level candidates.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field with eight (8+) years of substation protection control design experience for lead-level candidates.
• Experience in executing substation protection and control projects.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with internal teams and clients.
• Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of computer competency.
• Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites.
Nice-to-haves
• Engineer Intern (EI or EIT) certification.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience performing quality control checks on substation protection and control design projects.
• Experience working with CAD tools.
• Master's degree in a related field.
• Field testing/commissioning experience.
