My client is a bleeding edge Deep Tech company working in one of the most exciting sectors around and they are looking for a Senior Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Engineer to lead the development of its HIL system.
This role involves full lifecycle ownership, from gathering requirements and sourcing hardware to integrating HIL into software systems and commissioning.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience with NI PXI platforms, real-time testing, and automated validation frameworks, along with a strong background in electrical integration and harness design.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test bench system
• Build and configure test hardware, including power supplies, actuators modeling, and sensor mapping
• Establish communication with Digital Twin systems and program required interfaces
• Manage schedule, budget, vendors, and assembly for harness and HIL systems
• Optimize validation processes and utilize robotics tools for automated testing
• Support test development for additional critical systems
• Develop and document test procedures and methodologies
• Troubleshoot electrical integration issues on test stands and project hardware
• Present design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Experience with HIL systems such as dSpace, NI PXI, Speedgoat, or similar platforms
• 3 - 5+ years developing HIL test systems
• Proficiency in NI HIL software (LabVIEW, TestStand) and scripting in Python, C++, or C#
• Hands-on data acquisition and test execution skills
• Electrical debugging and root cause analysis expertise
• Strong ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience running hardware-software integration tests and reporting results
• Knowledge of control systems, software testing, and validation processes
• Hands-on skills for designing, building, and debugging test benches
• Familiarity with real-time simulation systems or FPGA-based systems
• Experience with trace capture tools and data acquisition platforms
