AIXTRON’s new manufacturing & engineering hub in Malaysia
We are building a new greenfield manufacturing and engineering hub in Batu Kawan, Penang. The site will provide a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment for assembly & testing of our high-end systems and will contribute to engineering for the next generation of products. Operations are planned to start in 2027 with a rapid ramp-up. Beyond technology, the new location is designed as a modern workplace with state-of-the art office and amenities —built to foster collaboration and a strong focus on people's wellbeing.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for purpose-driven builders: hands-on professionals with entrepreneurial spirit who enjoy setting up structures, improving processes and taking ownership in a fast-moving environment. As pioneers of our Malaysia site, you will help to shape not only your function, but also how we work together locally — while being connected to a global team of around 1,000 employees from ~60 nationalities across Asia, Europe and the US. We offer competitive benefits, outstanding technical expertise, development opportunities, and training.
About the role
Ready to take full ownership of complex electrical design projects and see your ideas come to life in cutting-edge systems? As a Senior Electrical Engineer (EPlan), you won’t just design circuits — you’ll architect robust, scalable solutions that power advanced technology.
In this role, you lead large and technically demanding EPlan projects from concept to release. You define intelligent, future-ready control architectures and create high-quality documentation that ensures seamless manufacturing, smooth serviceability, and long-term lifecycle excellence.
You are the technical backbone of your scope — the person others rely on for clarity and direction. Balancing performance, cost, and risk; you make smart engineering decisions that move projects forward. Working closely with mechanical, process, and automation experts, you turn interdisciplinary collaboration into powerful, integrated solutions.
If you’re driven by ownership, technical depth, and the chance to influence real-world systems at scale, this is your platform to make an impact.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize main and low power distribution systems with focus on reliability, maintainability, electromagnetic compatibility and compliance
- Structure and maintain large Eplan projects in accordance with internal standards
- Define programmable logic controller structures and scalable automation topologies across modules
- Integrate sensors, actuators and motion systems for stable and robust performance
- Interpret and apply international standards such as ISO, CE and SEMI across interfaces
- Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and structured risk assessments, driving mitigation actions to closure
- Manage requirements, documentation and change processes within product lifecycle management and enterprise resource planning systems
- Drive Design for Manufacturing and cost-conscious engineering decisions
- Support root cause analysis and structured problem solving (for example 8D methodology)
Qualifications & Skills
- University degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 5–10 years of professional experience in electrical design and automation engineering
- Strong expertise in Eplan, power architecture and control system design
- Solid understanding of vacuum, thermal and process fundamentals
- Experience with system architecture definition and cross-module integration
- Proven ability to lead technical modules and collaborate across disciplines and cultures
- Structured, analytical mindset with strong ownership and accountability
- Fluent English communication skills (written and spoken)
Working Conditions
- Role based at AIXTRON Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
- Majority of work at the Batu Kawan site.
