Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Electrical & Electronics Engineer to join our Hardware Engineering team in Greensboro, NC. This role involves the development and documentation of electrical and electronic (EE) components, with a strong focus on technical leadership, supplier collaboration, and delivering complex EE systems. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of relevant experience, demonstrate cross-functional collaboration skills, and contribute to both component-level execution and broader product strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, document, and verify electrical and electronic components and systems.
• Perform simulations and analyses to support EE component development.
• Define component requirements and specifications for suppliers. Evaluate and select internal and external EE components.
• Recommend and manage supplier relationships and work distribution.
• Ensure cross-functional and business alignment for component selection and integration.
• Deliver and execute on a product strategy roadmap, especially for complex components and systems.
• Manage large sets of EE components and ensure technical consistency and quality.
• Support and mentor junior engineers and peers within the team.
• Serve as a role model for continuous learning and technical knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate effectively across the wider Volvo Group network to create value for the Technology Development (TD) and Business Area (BA).
• Build and maintain a broad T-shaped profile by deepening expertise and expanding interdisciplinary knowledge.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in EE component/system development.
• Strong understanding of EE component lifecycles, from design through validation and supplier management.
• Experience with engineering tools for design, simulation, and documentation.
• Proven ability to lead supplier interactions and manage technical requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and drive alignment across teams.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience within the automotive or heavy-duty vehicle industry.
• Familiarity with Volvo Group systems and processes is a plus.
• Knowledge of product strategy development and execution.
• Technical leadership experience or coaching/mentorship roles in previous positions.
