A cutting-edge Emerging Technologies Innovation team is seeking a Power Electronics & Software Systems Engineer with expertise in switch-mode power supplies, AC/DC power conversion, and software-driven energy systems. This is not a traditional power systems role — we’re looking for someone who can bridge hardware and software to drive energy efficiency across broadband networks and next-gen infrastructure.
This in-person, Denver-based role offers the opportunity to shape the future of energy use, supporting power optimization, grid-tied power conversion, and development of innovative energy management applications such as demand response and virtual power plants.
What You'll Be Doing
• Design and prototype AC/DC power electronics systems including switch-mode power supplies and inverters
• Lead development of software tools for monitoring, remote control, and automation of networked power systems
• Implement data analysis and machine learning to optimize energy efficiency and forecast power needs
• Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and third-party vendors to validate and deploy solutions
• Support initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, energy costs, and improve network reliability
✅What You Bring
Required Experience:
• 5–10 years in power engineering and software development
• Hands-on experience with switch-mode power supplies and grid-tied inverter systems
• Strong coding skills in Python, C++, or similar for prototyping and data-driven modeling
• Experience with data analysis, control systems, or ML for power forecasting/optimization
Bonus Knowledge Areas:
• HFC network architecture and powering principles
• Renewable energy systems (solar, battery storage, microgrids)
• Energy management technologies like demand response and virtual power plants
• Familiarity with AC power transmission and distribution grids
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (required)
