About The Job
We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager or Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Embedded Software & Firmware team. You will drive the technical strategy and execution for the software powering Radar’s edge servers and in-store sensors, working at the intersection of hardware and software to deliver reliable, scalable, and insightful real-world data.
This role is both technical and people-focused: you’ll guide architecture and implementation while growing and mentoring a collaborative team.
Responsibilities
• Serve as a technical leader, actively participating in architectural and implementation discussions for firmware and embedded software on edge servers and in-store sensors
• Build a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team focused on delivering results aligned with Radar’s goals.
• Partner with cross-functional teams across Electrical Engineering, Cloud Software, Production, and Data Science to define system components and customer-facing capabilities.
• Navigate technical trade-offs in a rapidly evolving environment and help the team prioritize effectively as new information emerges.
• Drive the evolution of our firmware strategy while ensuring the team meets tactical milestones.
• Lead, mentor, and grow the engineering team, fostering career development and continuous learning.
• Support and lead collaboration across remote and distributed teams.
Required
ABOUT YOU
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience developing and shipping firmware or embedded systems for connected products.
• 2+ years of experience managing and leading engineering teams.
• Demonstrated success building technical roadmaps and scaling engineering teams to meet growing product and business needs.
• Proven ability to collaborate across software, hardware, and production teams to deliver reliable, high-quality systems.
• Familiarity with embedded Linux, RTOS environments, or microcontroller-based development.
Preferred
• Experience building systems for connected, sensor-driven, or IoT products.
• Experience with wireless is particularly desirable, especially in RFID, WLAN, WWAN, BT or related standards.
• Hands on experience with test framework development, automation, and CI.
• Experience with edge computing, device telemetry, or real-time data processing.
• Knowledge of hardware/software bring-up and debugging in embedded systems.
• Background in developing firmware with an emphasis on reliability, maintainability, and operational visibility.
At RADAR, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The expected base salary range for this position is $150,000.00 - $250,000.00. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, life and disability benefits, 401k plan, flexible time off, and paid parental leave. The pay range listed for this position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
