Job Summary:

The Common Electronic Products Department (CEPD) is looking for an entry-level EMI Effects Engineer to join our team in Tucson, AZ. CEPD is the internal customer facing organization for internal design activities and provides the expertise that optimizes electronic hardware designs for producibility, provides electrical circuit design, strategic procurement relationships, and assembly services through project leadership to achieve cycle time, technology, and cost goals.

The EMI Effects Engineer is responsible for EMI/EMC electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
• Work with senior engineers to support development of EMI architectures for new designs, to support the capture, and technical execution within the Subsystem Design and Architecture Department per MIL-STD-461 and MID-STD-464.
• Engage with multidisciplinary teams on regarding electromagnetic properties of materials and mechanical structures.
• Contribute to the development of suitable components and sub systems that achieve the performance requirements at the system-level per MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464.
• Contribute as a technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards.
• Help to educate programs on E3 requirements to ensure balance with risk conditions and constraints while advising leadership.
• Visible and informed of technical decisions.
• Collaborating to make standard test plan, procedure, and report templates.
• Contributing to Program EMI test execution to validate requirements including verifying and coordinating with the EMI test lab on test resources.
• Work with senior engineers as technical contact to the customer inclusive of requirements, technical commitments, IRAD, future technical needs as applicable to MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464.

Qualifications You Must Have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) degree.
• Exposure to EMI/EMC test and/or design.

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:
• ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desired.
• Currently hold a DoD issued security clearance of Secret or higher
• Exposure to manufacturing and/or assembly of EMI-critical products
• Knowledge of automated software
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Previous engineering lab experience
• Must have analytical ability to read and understand complex technical instructions, drawings and specifications and utilize complex equipment or complete experimental procedures.
• Ability to provide detailed documentation related to test planning, procedures, and test report. (Example of technical writing required)
• Strong team focus with good verbal and written communication skills
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge of MIL-STD-461 test techniques
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures
• Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
