McClelland Consulting Engineering has an immediate opportunity for an Electrical Engineer / SCADA Controls Designer specializing in water/wastewater design, program, and automation systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA) to control treatment plants and pump stations. This hands-on role involves creating electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and network architecture, ensuring reliable infrastructure operation through technical design. This individual can work out of the following MCE offices: Fayetteville, AR; Little Rock, AR; or Fort Smith, AR.
Responsibilities
- Provide complete electrical design for water and wastewater projects, including pumping systems and all aspects of treatment design
- Develop electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and P&IDs using CAD software (e.g., SkyCAD, AutoCAD) for water/wastewater projects.
- PLC/SCADA Programming: Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and HMI/SCADA systems (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware).
- System Integration: Design PLC I/O, control strategies, networking equipment, and communication systems (fiber optic, radio telemetry).
- Project Documentation: Produce submittal packages, technical specifications, control narratives, and I/O point lists for municipal clients.
- Field Support: Support field integration, troubleshooting, and startup activities to ensure proper operation.
- Troubleshoot existing process controls when requested for water and wastewater clients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in instrumentation and control (I&C) design, preferably within water/wastewater.
- Proficiency with PLC/SCADA platforms (Ignition highly preferred), CAD software, and electrical design principles.
- Strong understanding of P&IDs, instrument datasheets, VFDs, and field devices.
- Ability to produce accurate, clean drawings with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with project managers and client representatives.
- Familiarity with municipal design standards and wastewater treatment processes.
- Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.
Travel
Typical job requirements involve primarily travel to jobsites in Arkansas. Extended travel to projects in other states may be required periodically.
