Salary: R50,000 – R70,000 per month, depending on relevant experience
Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00

  • Friday: 08:00 – 16:00

 

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in electrical reticulation to join an established engineering team based in Durbanville.

The ideal candidate will have at least 6–8 years of relevant experience, primarily in electrical reticulation, distribution networks and associated electrical infrastructure. Candidates with a background in building services engineering will also be considered, as the company is open to accommodating the right individual within its existing team and project requirements.

This opportunity is suited to an engineer who can contribute technical expertise, support project delivery and apply sound engineering principles across electrical design and infrastructure projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical reticulation systems and associated electrical infrastructure.

  • Contribute to the planning, design and implementation of electrical distribution networks.

  • Prepare and review electrical designs, drawings, technical specifications and engineering documentation.

  • Interpret electrical layouts, schematics, technical drawings and project specifications.

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical standards, regulations and engineering best practices.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.

  • Provide technical input and support throughout the project lifecycle, from design through to implementation.

  • Assist with technical problem-solving, design reviews and the resolution of engineering challenges.

  • Monitor project deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, quality and adherence to deadlines.

  • Support building services electrical projects where required, depending on the candidate’s experience and the company’s operational needs.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

  • BEng, BSc Eng, BTech or an equivalent recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering.

  • At least 6–8 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably with a strong focus on electrical reticulation.

  • Practical experience in electrical distribution systems, reticulation design or related electrical infrastructure.

  • Ability to interpret and prepare technical drawings, designs and engineering documentation.

  • Knowledge of applicable electrical standards, regulations and engineering principles.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical skills.

  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Willingness to work full-time from the company’s Durbanville office.

Advantageous Experience

  • Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), although this is not essential.

  • Experience in building services electrical engineering.

  • Exposure to electrical infrastructure, consulting engineering or multidisciplinary engineering projects.

  • Experience with relevant electrical design software and engineering tools.

Package & Remuneration

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary: R50,000 – R70,000 per month, depending on relevant experience.

  • 20 days annual leave per year.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a technically capable Electrical Engineer with substantial reticulation experience, a practical approach to engineering design and the ability to contribute to a growing project portfolio. The company is also open to considering a strong building services engineer whose experience and technical capabilities could add value to the broader engineering team.

Professional registration is advantageous but not a prerequisite. Salary will be determined by the candidate’s relevant experience, technical expertise and overall suitability for the position.
