Location: Hybrid in San Diego, California. Our team works in the office Tuesday and Thursday, with remote work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Employees also enjoy flexible start times between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM.

Note: Candidates must have 3+ years of directly relevant electrical engineering or electrical design experience in MEP or building systems and hands on experience designing both electrical power and lighting systems.

Job Description

  • Design electrical systems for residential and commercial building projects from conceptual design through construction
  • Develop electrical power systems including switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, feeders, branch circuits, grounding, and panel schedules
  • Design lighting systems including photometrics, fixture specifications, lighting controls, and Title 24 requirements
  • Perform engineering calculations including voltage drop, fault current, coordination, and arc flash analysis
  • Prepare basis of design documentation, specifications, drawings, and other construction documents
  • Participate in client meetings and collaborate closely with architects, engineers, designers, contractors, and project stakeholders
  • Conduct job site walks to evaluate existing conditions and monitor construction progress
  • Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and provide construction administration support
  • Apply California electrical, building, energy, accessibility, utility, and life safety standards to project designs
  • Provide technical direction and supervision to electrical designers

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of electrical engineering or electrical design experience within MEP consulting, building systems, or a closely related environment
  • Demonstrated experience designing both electrical power and lighting systems for buildings
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of California Electrical Code, California Building Code, California Energy Code, Title 24, and applicable utility standards
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Experience with Design Master, EnergyPro, or SKM PowerTools is preferred
  • Strong ability to read and develop construction documents
  • Strong communication, organization, and client facing skills
  • Valid California driver's license and ability to visit project sites as needed
