Position Overview
Abbott's Electrophysiology division is seeking an Electrical Engineer I to support both development and sustaining engineering projects. This role will contribute to the design, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of electrical systems and products while working closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with strong troubleshooting abilities, capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Engineering Design & Development
- Participate on engineering teams to complete product development projects.
- Support development and sustaining engineering activities within the Electrophysiology division.
- Lead small-scale design change efforts for continuation engineering projects.
- Contribute to system-level, analog, digital, and firmware designs.
Requirements, Testing & Documentation
- Define, update, and revise engineering requirements and specifications.
- Debug and troubleshoot electrical circuits and systems.
- Perform testing and validation activities to ensure design performance and functionality.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation to ensure feasibility and verifiability of system performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, quality, and project teams.
- Support projects both independently and as part of a team environment.
- Communicate technical findings, issues, and resolutions clearly to stakeholders.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Biomedical Engineering may be considered if accompanied by relevant Electrical Engineering experience.
Experience
- Experience with electrical engineering concepts including:
- Analog circuit design
- Digital circuit design
- Firmware development
- Electrical troubleshooting and debugging
- Testing and validation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the medical device industry is highly preferred but not required.
- Prior professional engineering experience is preferred.
- Internship experience is acceptable, particularly for candidates with a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with relevant internship experience will also be considered.
