Total Technology Incorporated, a growing Government Contracting Firm, has a position available for an experienced Diagnostic Engineer with a background in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering at an Intermediate level. This person will work as part of a team that supports the needs of our customer.
The work involves a broad range of engineering with a focus on the development of diagnostic routines and flows that can be implemented using software to allow fault isolation of operational issues that affect the operation and performance of a weapon system. This position provides the opportunity to lead diagnostic developments and work with a highly experienced and motivated team of engineers. This individual will conceive of necessary hardware and design software and firmware as needed to fulfill an effective design.
Duties:
- Analyze and understand Line Replaceable Unit Built-In Test results and develop Diagnostic Fault Isolation procedures for the system level.
- Develop diagnostic flow charts for use during software development
- Develop system interface hardware to be used in conjunction with fault isolation procedures
- Develop test software to allow standardized test equipment to diagnose issues with defense systems assets
- Develop acceptance test procedures for hardware
- Create production level technical data package (TDP) design drawings for test program hardware and kits that will be used with the diagnostics routines.
What you need to qualify and be successful in this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering – master’s degree in engineering a plus
- 1-5 years electrical engineering experience required
- Ability to qualify for or possesses a current security clearance required and ability to obtain entry and work on a DOD base location.
- Experience in the areas of Built in Test and/or Factory acceptance test design/development is a plus
- Knowledge and ability to program in C and C++
- Experience in digital and analog circuit design (discrete and microprocessor based)
- Design experience and familiarity, (layout experience a plus) with Ethernet, CAN, I2C, 232/422, and USB communications.
- Experience in analog circuit design including active and passive filters, regulators, and amplifiers
- For specialized applications, experience in power circuit design, including high voltage switching and DC/DC convertors is a plus.
- For specialized assignments, experience in PCB layout including controlled impedance, differential pairs, and space/trace requirements is a plus.
- Ability to understand complex schematics and troubleshoot systems from those schematics/system diagrams, including failed components and flawed designs and come up with fixes and updates to the systems.
- A general background in mechanical systems, basic mechanical design, and basic machining principals. This will aid in designing for packaging constraints of the PCB’s
- Ability to configure lab test and bench test apparatus for operation and troubleshooting. Instrumentation such as high-speed digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, Bench power supplies, and logic analyzers. Comfort working and debugging on the lab.
- Ability to create informal designs and drawings and work with a mechanical engineer on formalizing the design through drawings.

- Self-motivated with the ability to work well within a team
- Highly detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
