Electrical Engineer –

Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Flexible Start Times)
Pay: $90,000–$110,000+ DOE

Design, Test & Commission Critical Electrical Power Systems

We're seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting power distribution, switchgear, and commissioning projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining electrical design with hands-on commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of low- and medium-voltage power systems.

You'll work on a variety of industrial power projects from design through startup while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver safe, reliable electrical systems.

What You'll Do

  • Design and support low- and medium-voltage electrical power systems
  • Commission switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, UPS systems, generators, and protection relays
  • Perform startup, testing, troubleshooting, and system integration
  • Conduct FAT, SAT, loop checks, continuity testing, insulation resistance testing, and functional testing
  • Perform primary and secondary injection testing
  • Support protection relay testing and coordination studies
  • Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment layouts
  • Troubleshoot electrical system issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Prepare commissioning reports, test documentation, and project records
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, contractors, QA/QC, and clients
  • Ensure projects meet NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and applicable industry standards

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Required)
  • 3–6+ years of electrical engineering experience
  • Experience designing low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical systems
  • Hands-on commissioning or startup experience
  • Strong understanding of switchgear, MCCs, transformers, generators, and power distribution
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial power systems experience
  • Commissioning experience
  • Protection relay testing
  • Power system studies
  • Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Data Center, or Utility experience
  • NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • OSHA 30
  • NFPA 70E
  • PMP Certification
