Job Description RCS Staffing has an immediate need for an Electrical Design Engineer/Designer I in Philadelphia, PA 19087. This is a full-time, contract-to-permanent hire hybrid remote/office-based assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation, and holidays.
Overview of YOUR role as an Electrical Design Engineer/Designer I In this role, you will support the design and development of high-visibility utility projects for PECO, including underground residential distribution (URD) systems and infrastructure upgrades. You will be responsible for interpreting project scopes, producing utility design drawings using MicroStation or AutoCAD, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring all work meets client and regulatory standards. As an Electrical Design Engineer/Designer I YOU will: Review and interpret project scopes, drawings, and specifications to produce accurate designs.
Utilize MicroStation and/or AutoCAD to complete electrical utility design work. Coordinate timelines and deliverables with internal teams to ensure project deadlines are met. Ensure all design work complies with PECO standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
Submit permit applications to PECO permit coordinators as needed. Resolve field issues and design conflicts with quick thinking and resourcefulness. Engage with engineers, contractors, municipalities, and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain meticulous documentation for permitting and compliance purposes. YOU are the ideal Electrical Design Engineer/Designer I candidate if you have: Prior experience working with PECO utility projects. A strong understanding of PECO electric systems, utility design standards, and construction practices.
Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, GIS, or similar platforms. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
Ability to adapt to dynamic field conditions and project changes. It's a BONUS if you have: A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (not required if strong experience is present). Previous experience applying for and managing utility permits.
