Electrical Engineer

Position Summary - Electrical Engineer

Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates electronic systems, PCBA's, parts, components, or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and electrical engineering applications. Determines design approaches and parameters, analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests, and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability, and may participate in the assessment of vendor capability to support product development.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 2–5+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 0–2+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• Experience with analog and digital circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, hardware bring-up, and system-level debugging. It's an advantage if the candidate has experience with the Altium Designer tool.
• Familiarity with common embedded interfaces and communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, USB, Ethernet, and wireless (drop in modules) technologies.
• Comfortable with direct client interaction, including presentation of technical designs.
• Experience with testing and troubleshooting of PCBA designs using common test equipment.
• Experience with cable design and documentation.
• Knowledge of regulatory processes and requirements, including creating designs compliant with common FCC, UL, CSA, and EU regulatory requirements.
• Experience with integrating sensors, motor controls, power electronics, and embedded peripherals.
• Experience developing embedded systems using C/C++ on microcontrollers and RTOS-based platforms.
• Comfortable with direct client interaction, including presentation of technical designs.
• Working knowledge of software development tools and practices including Git, debugging tools, automated testing, and version control workflows.
• Familiarity with embedded Linux, Python, C#, or development of engineering and test tools is a plus.
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering, software development, or test automation tools is desirable.
• Exposure to FPGA development, VHDL, or Verilog is a plus.
• Experience with design methods and requirements for medical devices including ISO13485, IEC60601 is desirable.

This is a contract to hire position onsite in San Diego.   Annualized salary range:  $110,000-$140,000
