Peregrine Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support and enhance critical electrical infrastructure at a leading university campus. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, maintaining, and improving electrical distribution systems and central utility plant equipment to ensure reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
In this role, you will:
• Assess and improve electrical distribution and central utility plant systems.
• Oversee design, upgrades, and maintenance of electrical equipment and power systems.
• Coordinate electrical projects and utility outages, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Analyze electrical distribution systems and recommend improvements for reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support energy management and system optimization.

Key Responsibilities
• Electrical System Oversight: Evaluate and manage campus-wide electrical distribution systems and central utility plant equipment.
• Project Management: Lead maintenance and upgrade projects, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance.
• Utility Coordination: Plan and oversee scheduled and unplanned power outages, mitigating campus impact.
• Technical Analysis & Design: Provide electrical design support for construction, renovation, and energy management projects.
• Compliance & Best Practices: Stay up to date with electrical codes, industry standards, and emerging technologies to improve system reliability.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work alongside engineers, contractors, and facilities teams to enhance electrical infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 4-7 years of experience in electrical design, commissioning, testing, operations, or maintenance.
• At least five (5) years’ experience in the design and operating evaluation of Central Plant and distribution systems, including transformers, breakers, protective relaying, switches, motors, generators and other electrical equipment.
• Valid driver’s license for travel to and from meetings and project sites.
Preferred:
• Professional Engineer (PE) License or EIT Certification.
• Experience using SKM or similar electrical modeling software.
• Familiarity with field testing equipment for power systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong background in electrical distribution systems, transformers, breakers, relays, motors, and generators.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and electrical modeling software.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, plant operations, and system commissioning.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, project management abilities, and communication.
