This is an opportunity to work on complex electrical systems, applying advanced analysis and design skills to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient power delivery.
About the Role:
As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering technical solutions across power systems analysis, design, and operations for a range of projects based in Sugar Land, TX. You will support project teams with detailed engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. Your work will help optimise system performance, improve reliability, and reduce operational risk for power systems across multiple applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed power systems studies, including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and motor starting analyses.
- Develop and review power system designs, including one-line diagrams, schematics, equipment layouts, and cable schedules.
- Specify and select electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, protective relays, MCCs, and power distribution components.
- Support the development and review of protection and control schemes, including relay settings and coordination.
- Prepare technical reports, calculations, and engineering documentation to support design and operational decisions.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and start-up of power systems, including troubleshooting and field issue resolution.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure electrical designs integrate effectively with mechanical, civil, and control systems.
- Ensure all designs and analyses comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer focused on power systems analysis, design, and operations.
- Hands-on experience performing power system studies using industry-standard software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of medium and low voltage distribution systems, protective relaying, and system coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to produce and review detailed electrical design deliverables for industrial or utility projects.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (such as NEC, IEEE, IEC, NESC) applicable to power systems.
- Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings, specifications, and client requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with project teams, clients, and field personnel.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with industrial facilities, petrochemical, refining, or utility power systems.
- Background in power system operations, including reliability assessments and system optimisation.
- Knowledge of SCADA, automation, and control systems integration with power distribution networks.
- Experience supporting commissioning, testing, and energisation of electrical systems.
- Familiarity with arc flash mitigation strategies and safety programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or the ability to obtain it is highly preferred.
- Additional certifications or training in power systems analysis, protection, or safety (e.g., IEEE courses, NETA-related training) are an advantage.
