The Talent Mine is seeking a Level 4 Electrical Engineer to guardian the high-voltage systems (up to 345kV) that power our global technology client’s infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability and availability of critical operational infrastructure on a fleetwide level.

This is a 12-month contract role designed for those seeking a path to a long-term full-time (FTE) career with a world-changing company

Location:

Remote, Preferably in RES, NYC, Other Approved Data Center Locations considered case by case, with travel as needed.

Pay Rate:

Starting at $105/hr DOE

Travel Requirements:

Less than 25% time

Job Description:

Contractor shall assist and augment day-to-day capacity of Electrical Engineer working on the Program within the Client’s Global Data Center - Execution Engineering team. Broad range of scope covers A) design & localization of new hyperscale data centers and campuses, B) supporting operations staff with engineering solutions, C) streamlining construction issues resolutions and D) other internal engineering tasks, as further detailed below:

A. Design & Localize New Hyperscale Data Centers

  • Contractor shall review and assist technical development of electrical systems for hyperscale data centers including campus planning, general layout/arrangements, single line diagrams, HV-MV infra, primary substation design, SCCAF, calculations, etc.

  • Contractor shall review and assist technical development of site primary substation up to 345kV.

  • Contractor shall review internal specifications and vendor compliance statements (CDE).

  • Contractor shall oversee A/E design consultants and provide direction or escalation in accordance with established engineering standards.

  • Contractor shall peer review A/E design consultants’ deliverables including drawing sets, specifications, sequence of operations, calculations, models, etc. and provide comments & resolutions in accordance with established engineering standards.

  • Review and advise on potential value engineering opportunities

  • Contractor shall be capable of rapid conceptual sketches using industry tools for visualization and spatial/dimensional validations for internal purposes only (i.e.: conveying ideas, streamlining communication, etc.).

B. Support Program Operations

  • Contractor may occasionally lead projects and solutioning of electrical issues, outages, fleetwide improvements and other needs arising from existing, operational Program campuses as ExE (Execution Engineering) representative in direct support of DCOps stakeholders.

  • Evaluate post-mortem reports, root cause analyses and presentations and make comments and recommendations.

  • Generate solution/upgrade/improvement options that have a fleetwide impact to enhance reliability and availability of critical operational infrastructure.

  • Review data analytics of operational trends (historian trend logs) to evaluate equipment health, remaining useful life and predictive failure models.

C. Support Program Construction

  • Work with partners in construction, design and change management to compile, prioritize/triage and process construction originated engineering issues for standard design/product improvements.

  • When necessary, support engineering bulletins to ensure wide dissemination of design changes.

  • Support in overall standard design improvement loops/processes between products, design, construction and operations.

D. General Engineering Administration

  • Operate the internal issue-tracking platform to file new items or close out

  • Contractor shall produce presentations (or ‘presos’) using standard presentation software as the main ‘deliverable’ format to communicate findings, evaluations and options to internal stakeholders.

  • Contractor shall be proficient in spreadsheet software (i.e.: Excel) to run engineering calculations and other tabular evaluations.

Requirements

  • B.S.(Electrical Engineering) is required, PE is preferred.

  • 5+ years experience in design, construction, and commissioning of High/medium/low voltage electrical distribution systems, as well as primary substations (up to 345kV).

  • Experience with mission critical facilities design and construction is preferred.

  • Experience specifying switchgears/switchboards/panelboards, cables, monitoring equipment, generators, VFDs, UPS, Transformers, etc.

  • Experience performing power system analysis with common engineering software packages.

  • Proficient user of drafting tools like CAD or BIM

  • Experience and general knowledge of cross discipline teams: structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, architectural.
