l The company also delivers specialized design services for Traction Power and Moveable Bridges. Its portfolio features major regional infrastructure efforts, including the CTA Red Line Extension, the new CTA Damen Green Line Station, the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway, and the award-winning Chicago River Walk.

Role Description 

l The Director of Electrical Engineering is a full-time, remote leadership role responsible for overseeing electrical engineering design and delivery across transportation, transit, and building projects.

l This role leads and mentors electrical engineering teams, sets technical standards, and ensures designs meet safety, code, and client requirements.

l Daily responsibilities include reviewing and approving electrical design packages, coordinating with project managers, architects, and other disciplines, and providing guidance on power systems, traction power, and lighting solutions.

l The director also manages resource planning, supports proposal development, contributes to project budgeting and scheduling, and maintains quality control processes.

l Collaboration with clients and agency stakeholders, including DOT and transit authorities, is expected to align engineering solutions with project goals and regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

l Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering, with demonstrated expertise in Electricity principles and applications.

l Proficiency in Electrical Design for transportation, transit, and building systems, including lighting, traction power, and related infrastructure.

l Experience with Power Systems analysis, design, and integration, particularly in complex or multi-disciplinary projects.

l Program Management skills to lead multiple projects and teams, manage schedules and budgets, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

l Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; advanced degree is beneficial.

l Professional Engineer (PE) license in a relevant jurisdiction, or eligibility to obtain one in Illinois, is strongly preferred.

l Proven experience in leading engineering teams, mentoring staff, and establishing technical standards and best practices.

l Familiarity with transportation, transit, and public infrastructure projects, including DOT or transit authority requirements.

l Excellent communication, documentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

l Commitment to inclusive leadership, safety, quality, and continuous improvement in engineering processes.
