Description2nd W/K Electrical Engineer for Cutter Suction Dredger.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all electrical, electronic, automation, and instrumentation systems onboard the Cutter Suction Dredger.
- Ensure the safe and reliable operation of power generation, power distribution, dredging electrical systems, propulsion auxiliaries, and vessel automation.
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance and corrective repairs in accordance with the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
- Diagnose and rectify faults on PLCs, VFDs, MCCs, switchboards, generators, motors, sensors, alarms, and control systems.
- Maintain electrical systems associated with cutter drives, dredge pumps, jet pumps, spud systems, winches, hydraulic controls, and auxiliary machinery.
- Monitor electrical load distribution, insulation integrity, protection systems, and the overall health of electrical equipment to ensure uninterrupted dredging operations.
- Maintain emergency electrical systems, UPS units, batteries, navigation lights, communication equipment, and safety alarms.
- Keep accurate maintenance records, electrical drawings, calibration records, and spare parts inventory for all electrical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with ISM Code, Class, Flag State requirements, company procedures, and applicable electrical safety regulations.
- Apply Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), and other electrical isolation procedures before carrying out maintenance activities.
- Coordinate closely with the Chief Engineer, Dredge Master, and deck and engine departments to support continuous and efficient dredging operations.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to Electrical Ratings, trainees, and contractors during maintenance and repair activities.
- Participate in emergency drills and provide technical support during breakdowns and emergency situations.
- Identify recurring equipment issues, recommend technical improvements, and contribute to enhancing vessel reliability and operational performance.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief Engineer to support the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in electrical/Electronics & Automation Engineering.
5-10 years' experience on Dredger or in heavy industries with automation.
Basic STCW training certification with medical fitness certificate.
