Description

We are looking for a Electrical Design Engineer – LV Switchgear who will operate as an individual contributor, taking end-to-end ownership of LV switchgear design activities. This role requires a high level of technical maturity, independent decision-making, and regular interaction with customers and internal stakeholders.

The position is hands-on in nature.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the complete design lifecycle of LV switchgear panels including PCC, MCC, APFC, and Distribution Boards.
  • Prepare, review, and release SLDs, control schematics, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts with minimal supervision.
  • Develop, validate, and optimize Bills of Materials (BOM) ensuring accuracy, cost effectiveness, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure full compliance with IEC 61439, project specifications, internal standards, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Define, review, and validate protection schemes, interlocking logic, and control philosophies.
  • Perform and review load calculations, short-circuit studies, and thermal evaluations.
  • Act as the technical interface with customers, consultants, and project teams for clarifications, approvals, and technical deviations.
  • Coordinate closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, QA/QC, and Project teams to ensure design intent is correctly executed.
  • Support and lead FAT, internal design reviews, customer inspections, and audits.
  • Drive design standardization, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor and technically groom junior engineers through design reviews and best-practice sharing, while remaining hands-on.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • 5-10years of proven hands-on experience in LV switchgear design and engineering.
  • Strong exposure to PCC, MCC, APFC, and Distribution Boards.
  • Proficiency in SEE Electrical / ePLAN / AutoCAD Electrical.
  • In-depth knowledge of IEC 61439, LV system design, and protection coordination.
  • Strong understanding of ACBs, MCCBs, contactors, protection relays, meters, CTs, APFC components, and accessories.
  • Experience with APFC panel design, including detuned reactors and harmonic mitigation (preferred).
  • Exposure to ERP systems for BOM control and engineering change management is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple parallel projects, and take technical ownership.
  • Strong communication skills for customer and consultant interactions.
