Senior Train Systems Control Engineer Needed
An Oakland, California based engineering consulting firm seeks an experienced San Francisco Bay Area based systems engineer to work at an established Bay Area transportation agency. This is a full-time, hybrid role with two days designated as remote work.
Duties:
• Review Train Control software (CBTC knowledge/experience a plus)
• Conduct field inspection of train control installations
• Review contractor installation testing train control
• Provide subject matter expertise in BART train control systems (training can be provided)
• Review Train Control software to determine operational capabilities during various project phases
• Conduct reviews for various CBTC project CDRLs and RFIs and track status and completion
• Coordinate, facilitate, and communicate with all BART Stakeholders including Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, Planning, and Construction.
• Review contractor CAD drawings for correctness
• Work closely with deployment team to ensure designs are being implemented in construction
• Additionally, occasionally conduct field inspections to ensure installation is per BoP.
• Develop IOPs and SSWPs
• Review contractor test procedures for various subsystem components
• Develop and review BART entrance cabinet redesign for Enabling Works
• project
• Capable of lead yard upgrade effort to ensure interoperability between Yards and CBTC with installation of new MicroLok
• Perform analysis, and work with the project’s Design Build Contractor to resolve any technical issues in a timely manner
• Engage, coordinate, and collaborate with other CBTC Project team members working groups, BART Stakeholders, and the project’s Design Build Contractor and their Subcontractors, as needed
• Coordinate meetings and workshops between the Design Build Contractor and BART stakeholders, as needed
• Provide advisory services to the WG3.a Wayside Design Work Group Manager, BART CBTC Project Management Team, and other CBTC Project Working Groups.
Skills:

Knowledge/ Experience:
• Knowledge of train control systems required
• Knowledge of controllers, microprocessors, interlockings and design used in train control
• Knowledge of field installations for train control
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
• 10 years’ experience in train control
Summary:
The Senior Train Systems Control Engineer position requires a strong foundation in IT, systems engineering, and computer science. The ideal candidate will have experience in system design and operating systems. Premium skills in service-oriented architecture, solution architecture, and IT infrastructure are highly valued.
Additionally, knowledge of ETL, Salesforce, and Pegasystems is beneficial for this role. Relevant skills in NoSQL, cloud security, AWS, and continuous integration will also be essential. The successful candidate should have a background in electrical engineering and computer science, along with excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
