We are seeking Transmission Relay Engineers to join a collaborative and innovative engineering team. Opportunities are available at multiple experience levels (Engineer and Associate Engineer). The work spans managing small to large projects, offering diverse technical challenges and growth opportunities. Candidates will perform design, application, and analysis of utility-grade relay systems for transmission and substation systems and provide critical engineering support to operations teams.
Core Responsibilities:
• Ensure safe work practices in accordance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and review relay and meter one-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings.
• Perform relay setting calculations for electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor relays.
• Utilize ASPEN One-Line and vendor software (SEL/GE) for system modeling, fault current simulations, settings, and coordination.
• Support field personnel with relay system testing, problem analysis, and root cause investigations.
• Prepare outage reports and corrective action plans following system relay operations.
• Conduct preliminary engineering cost estimates for feasibility studies.
• Stay current with industry standards and participate in industry committees or technical meetings.
• Contribute to departmental meetings and project budget updates.
• Actively participate in emergency response assignments during system events.
Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required.
Experience Levels:
• Associate Engineer: 1–3 years of engineering experience, with exposure to relay/control system design and transmission relay protection.
• Engineer: 3–5+ years of engineering experience, capable of independently leading relay engineering projects, approving drawings, and reviewing system faults.
Skills:
• Strong knowledge of transmission relay design, settings, and testing.
• Ability to interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring drawings.
• Proficiency with ASPEN, SEL/GE software preferred.
• Strong written/verbal communication and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Licenses:
• Driver's License required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred or actively in process (NY, NJ, or PA preferred).
