District Partners is supporting a national security-focused technology firm is hiring a Test Design Electrical Engineer to develop and lead high-scale test automation and validation for complex network-centric electronic systems. This is not just a testing role-we're looking for a strong Electrical Engineer who can take ownership of hardware design, testing strategy, and cross-functional integration from end to end.
You'll be building test infrastructure for high-reliability systems deployed at scale, with a heavy emphasis on network and communications infrastructure, system-level thinking, and automated validation platforms. The ideal candidate can zoom in on PCB details, but also step back and troubleshoot across an entire system stack.

Top 3 Professional Attributes:
• Owns the full development of test frameworks - from concept to deployment.
• Experienced with large-scale production of networking/comms infrastructure equipment.
• Cross-functional thinker - can understand and troubleshoot across mechanical, electrical, and firmware components.
Required Technical Skills:
• Networking experience - this is non-negotiable (ideally Cisco-level familiarity).
• Experience with network-centric circuit boards and embedded systems.
• Strong LabVIEW skills - must be able to create or modify test automation using LabVIEW.
• Python scripting (Rust or C++ is a plus).
• Schematic capture and PCBA layout experience.
• EMI/EMC compliance knowledge applied at scale.
• Solid foundation in hardware design - not just testing.
• Familiarity with power electronics, digital circuitry, and electrical compliance standards.
What You'll Do:
• Design and deliver complete test solutions for custom PCBAs and Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
• Lead the entire test automation lifecycle: Requirements → Design → Build → Integrate → Deploy.
• Own and evolve test infrastructure to scale from prototype to production.
• Troubleshoot test systems and product-level electrical issues, driving root cause analysis and fixes.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and manufacturing teams to align testing and product quality.
• Contribute to requirements generation, schematic reviews, and system-level integration planning.
Location & Clearance:
• Must work onsite in Reston or McLean, VA
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred)

Compensation & Perks:
• Up to $215,000 base salary
