Lumos Infinitas USA Inc. is a leading innovator in silicon photonics, specializing in advanced optical interconnect and sensor solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled Silicon Photonics Active Design Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the design and development of next-generation high-speed optical transmitters and receivers.

Responsibilities
• Design and optimize high-speed silicon photonics optical transmitters and receivers, with a strong focus on traveling wave modulators and high-speed photodetectors.
• Lead the RF design of active silicon photonics devices, ensuring high performance at 200G/lane and beyond.
• Utilize electromagnetic simulation tools (such as HFSS, Ansys Lumerical, COMSOL, CST Microwave Studio) to model and optimize traveling wave structures.
• Design and simulate RF components (such as impedance-matching networks, transmission lines, and high-speed signal routing) for photonic integrated circuits (PICs).
• Develop custom layout automation scripts using Python-based tools for streamlined gds generation.
• Work closely with foundry partners to define fabrication processes, ensuring compatibility with CMOS-based silicon photonics platforms.
• Collaborate with electrical, packaging, and test engineers to optimize overall system performance.
• Evaluate fabricated devices through high-speed electro-optic testing and iteratively improve designs based on measured results.

Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Applied Physics, or a related field; OR

Master’s degree with at least 1 year of industrial experience in silicon photonics, high-speed optical components, or RF design.
• Direct experience in designing and optimizing silicon traveling wave modulators, or ring modulators for high-speed optical communications.
• Strong background in RF design and signal integrity analysis, including experience with S-parameter extraction, impedance matching, and time-domain simulations.
• Expertise in electromagnetic simulation tools (HFSS, Lumerical MODE/FDTD/CHARGE, COMSOL, CST, etc.).
• Hands-on experience in mask layout design, preferably using Python-based tools such as KLayout, gds factory, or custom scripting for automation.
• Familiarity with CMOS or III-V semiconductor fabrication processes for photonic integrated circuits.
• Knowledge of optical testing methodologies for high-speed photonic components (such as VNA-based S-parameter measurements, optical eye diagram analysis, and BER testing).
• Strong self-motivation and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.

Preferred qualifications
• Experience working with foundry PDKs (such as Tower Semiconductor, GlobalFoundries, or Advanced Micro-Fabrication).
• Familiarity with high-speed packaging and interconnects for photonic ICs.
• Understand optical communication standards/protocols
• Experience with TFLN is a plus
