Office Type: Onsite, Garden Grove, CA
Salary: $175,000–$210,000 + Bonus + Equity

Company Description

We're representing a fast-growing sports technology company building AI-powered camera systems that automatically capture, analyze, and generate highlights for athletes, coaches, and families. With more than 10,000 cameras deployed globally and millions of highlights generated each season, the company is scaling both its hardware platform and manufacturing operations to meet increasing demand.

The team operates with a highly ownership-driven culture, where engineers are trusted to solve problems end-to-end across hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and operations. As they expand production and develop new hardware platforms, they are looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer to help drive reliability, validation, and system-level performance across their product portfolio.

What You Will Do

  • Lead PCB validation, hardware bring-up, debugging, and production readiness activities for new hardware designs.
  • Review schematics, identify design issues, and collaborate with engineering teams to optimize manufacturability and reliability.
  • Design and execute system-level validation plans, including environmental, thermal, accelerated life, and stress testing.
  • Investigate hardware failures from deployed field units and conduct root-cause analysis to drive corrective actions.
  • Partner closely with firmware engineers to diagnose system-level issues using hardware tools and firmware logs.
  • Improve product reliability through component selection, thermal optimization, mechanical enhancements, and design improvements.
  • Evaluate alternative components and suppliers to improve supply chain resilience and long-term product sustainability.
  • Develop test automation tools, validation frameworks, and diagnostic tooling to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Document validation processes, failure investigations, and engineering findings to support knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Contribute wherever needed, supporting a highly collaborative startup environment where ownership extends beyond formal responsibilities.

Ideal Background

  • 5+ years of professional hardware engineering experience.
  • BS or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven track record bringing production-scale electronic products from development through manufacturing and deployment.
  • Strong experience in hardware validation, reliability engineering, failure analysis, and root-cause investigations.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware debugging tools including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, serial debuggers, and related equipment.
  • Ability to read schematics and analyze low-level hardware and firmware logs.
  • Experience working across hardware, firmware, and embedded systems boundaries.
  • Programming experience with Python and/or C/C++ for test automation, validation tooling, or firmware debugging.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to independently drive complex investigations to resolution.

Preferred

  • Experience with consumer electronics, IoT devices, cameras, edge computing systems, or embedded hardware products.
  • Familiarity with firmware-hardware integration and embedded Linux-based systems.
  • Experience supporting products at manufacturing scale and high deployment volumes.
  • Personal hardware projects, maker experience, robotics projects, or other evidence of engineering curiosity outside of work.
  • Experience utilizing AI-assisted engineering tools to improve productivity and development workflows.
  • Background in reliability testing methodologies including HALT, HASS, environmental testing, and accelerated lifecycle testing.
  • Experience working in fast-paced startup environments with broad ownership expectations.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $175,000–$210,000.
  • Annual performance bonus opportunity.
  • Equity participation.
  • Opportunity to work on AI-powered hardware products deployed at significant scale worldwide.
  • High-autonomy engineering culture with strong ownership and minimal bureaucracy.
  • Exposure to hardware, firmware, manufacturing, reliability, and systems engineering challenges.
  • Direct collaboration with senior technical leadership and hardware engineering teams.
  • Opportunity to help scale production, launch new products, and influence the future hardware roadmap.
  • Work at the intersection of sports, AI, computer vision, and consumer hardware.
Salary Range: $175,000-$210,000 base.
