JOB TITLE:                Sr. Electrical Engineer

LEVEL:                       II

DEPARTMENT:         Modules and Systems Development

REPORTS TO:           Engineering Development Manager

FLSA STATUS:          Exempt

 

SUMMARY:  The successful candidate will have the ability to lead design, development and validation of cell management solutions for Maxwell energy storage modules used in both stationary and vehicular applications.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Engineering design, development, testing, validation and associated documentation for cell

            management electronics and associated testing system.

  • Development of test circuits, electrical drawings and test requirements in order to successfully

            achieve desired validation goals in an organized and timely manner.

  • Electrical standards review to guide design and testing requirements
  • Support cell management system failure analysis and interpretation of test data and results.
  • Become a key product development team member including support of team schedule, cost and product performance goals.
  • Experience with power electronics design desired.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Master of Science degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of electrical design experience beyond education experience with high proficiency in analog circuit design
  • 5+ years of experience in battery or ultra-capacitor management system development (BMS / CMS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of high voltage/high power systems design.
  • PCBA manufacturing & related standards
  • Clear understanding of EMC and Electrical Safety Standards (CISPR, ISO, IEC, CE & E-Mark) and certification testing experience preferred
  • Familiar with automotive processes and automotive electronics design experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in PCB design/layout, with Altium experience preferred.
  • Experience of inverters and three phase electrical systems desired.
  • Being able to interpret product requirements into planned technical direction and execution is critical.
  • Demonstrate interest and strong aptitude to develop well organized, detailed test plans and test

            reports.

  • Strong capabilities in programs such as Altium, PSpice and/or other circuit simulation software.
  • Must be intimately familiar with data acquisition systems and oscilloscopes for analysis/diagnostic

            purposes.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-motivated.
