This role requires a deep understanding of customer requirements and the ability to translate them into robust electrical solutions. The ideal candidate will bring leadership and technical expertise in mixed-signal circuit design, development, and worst-case analysis across analog and digital domains. This 100% in-office role is based at the Quartz MEMS (QMEMS) facility in Concord, CA. Occasional travel (<10%) to customers, suppliers, or other EMCORE facilities may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define electrical subsystem architecture based on internal and customer-derived requirements.
- Lead electrical design efforts from concept through production, including schematic capture in Altium, PCB layout, system integration/test, and production support.
- Perform detailed analysis and simulations of analog and digital circuits to ensure performance and reliability
- Design low-noise front-end electronics for QMEMS gyroscopes and accelerometers, including drive and sense loops, demodulation, precision references, and temperature compensation.
- Solve complex design challenges using best practices that optimize size, weight, power, and cost.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design and production issues.
- Perform trade studies and drive component selection throughout BOM development.
- Support project planning and proposal efforts by estimating resources, timelines, and costs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate electrical designs into larger systems.
- Update and modify existing analog and digital designs to address electronic part obsolescence issues.
- Develop and present materials for design reviews and Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs).
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering technical growth and electrical engineering best practices.
- Stay current with industry standards, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
