Power Supply Design Engineer

Fulltime, Onsite

Simi Valley, CA

$170,000 - $210,000

About the Role

An established electronics manufacturer serving the defense, aerospace, and energy sectors is looking for an experienced power electronics engineer to join its small but mighty team. This is a hands-on, high-impact role designing ruggedized power conversion systems from concept through production alongside a team that values curiosity, collaboration, and technical depth.

This isn’t a narrow-scope, big-company seat—you’ll touch everything from initial concept to troubleshooting legacy boards, and from hands-on lab work to customer calls. If you love solving hard problems, value craftsmanship in design, and don’t mind getting your hands dirty on the production floor when needed, this is the job for you.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Designing Mil-Spec power supply systems to meet performance, environmental, and test standards
• Supporting both new designs and sustaining engineering for legacy products
• Creating schematics and layouts and following designs into real-world implementation
• Troubleshooting, testing, and validating power systems using lab equipment (scopes, probes, meters)
• Working cross-functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, and customers
• Writing and reviewing clear, well-structured technical documentation
• Mentoring junior engineers and continuously learning from your peers and the next generation

Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in power electronics or related electrical engineering roles
• Strong background in analog and power circuit design
• Experience with AC/DC and DC/DC conversion topologies
• Ability to create, read, and troubleshoot schematics and layouts
• Hands-on skills in the lab—comfortable with soldering irons, oscilloscopes, and test setups
• Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—are a must
• Able to maneuver in production/lab environments and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required

Nice to Have
• Familiarity with military and aerospace specs
• Experience with sustaining engineering or legacy system support
• Spanish language skills (helpful, not required)
