Position Overview:
They are seeking an Electrical Power Engineer to support the design and execution of electrical power systems. This individual will be a critical part of the Power Delivery Team, working on projects related to transmission, distribution, substations, and renewable energy integration. The role reports directly to the Lead Electrical Power Engineer.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with engineering, financial, and technical analysis for a variety of power-related engineering projects
• Conduct power system planning and operations analysis, including reliability, and economic dispatch
• Perform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, transient stability, switching transient studies using power system modeling software
• Apply fundamental electrical engineering principles to project planning and analysis
• Analyze life-cycle project impacts by developing cost assumptions and engineering performance estimates
• Ensure assigned projects comply with all applicable company and electrical industry standards and recommendations throughout all phases of the project, e.g. NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NFPA, API, NEMA, etc.
• Interface with engineering contractors, plant personnel, E&I vendors, construction contractors, and engineers through all project phases
• Provide electrical and power technical support on multidiscipline projects
• Provide input to scope and design of assigned projects; Identify front-end engineering & design (FEED) and Implementation deliverables necessary for the electrical scope of the project
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of standard electrical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures
• Working knowledge of NESC and NEC in typical capital projects
• Familiarity with electrical analysis programs (ETAP, SKM)
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment, with demonstrated critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team-building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
