Overview

The Plant Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the supervision, engineering, maintenance and operation of all incoming plant power distribution, and services. This position is also responsible for capital projects throughout the plant as well as engineering assistance with the operating and maintenance departments as required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and secure work environment for contractors and fellow employees.
  • Testing, and Maintenance on complex relays, power transformers, low/medium/high voltage circuit breakers, switches, UPS, High Voltage Substation breakers, field instrumentation, and other equipment typically associated with electrical power systems.
  • Installs and maintains all electrical equipment in support of capital projects while supporting the overall operation and maintenance of entire electric systems. Electrical system includes but incoming 161kV distribution system, the 34.5kV-480 V substations, the 480 V distribution system and lower voltage distributing system.
  • Ensure the proper PMs are in place for all critical electrical equipment including but not limited to emergency diesel generators, un-interpretable power supplies (UPS), and DC systems for 34.5 kV relay operation
  • Committed on detailed work plans including schedule, cost, resource, contingency and communication plans.
  • Obtain senior management approvals as needed and is responsible for on-going project tacking, analysis and resolution of project cost, scope, resource, and schedule issues.
  • Responsible for updating drawings and prints based on changes made in the field.
  • Accountable for all substation power requirements to support daily manufacturing operations.
  • Advises and coordinate the work of electrical contractors, and employees
  • Supervise and mentor Power distribution team

Work directly with TVA for Power contract changes and future development

Qualifications

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand information contained in a variety of documents.
  • Familiar with related codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, IEC, NEMA, and other related codes.
  • Experience with project coordination from start to completion
  • Experience with Excel, Word, Visio, Ignition and Siemens PLC programming
  • Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering is preferred

Preferred:

  • At least 5 years of Electrical experience in an industry setting
