A well-established renewable energy company is seeking a motivated Operations Engineer with a background in utility-scale solar to support the daily operations of a rapidly expanding portfolio of PV power plants. This role serves as the primary technical point of contact for assigned facilities and is instrumental in driving performance improvements, coordinating with stakeholders, and resolving technical issues. Additionally, the Operations Engineer acts as a bridge between operations and commercial teams, transforming site data into actionable business insights.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily performance and ensure the long-term operational health of multiple utility-scale PV plants
• Analyze performance data from solar and energy storage (PV & BESS) assets to identify and implement optimization strategies
• Provide advanced troubleshooting support for power systems and control equipment to field technicians and control room staff
• Serve as the technical liaison for external stakeholders regarding site performance and operational matters
• Contribute to predictive maintenance strategies through data analytics and support infrastructure upgrades
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and system-wide issues
• Generate detailed reports for finance, asset management, and operations leadership
• Assist in resolving remote faults across PV and BESS sites

Qualifications & Experience:
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with power systems, including inverters, transformers, breakers, switchgear, etc.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering
• Familiarity with SCADA, DAS, and site communications infrastructure
• Ability to read and interpret one-line, three-line, schematic, and structural diagrams
• Experience working with SEL devices, RTACs, and power plant controllers (PPCs) used in transmission-connected facilities
• Understanding of power system studies such as arc flash, harmonic analysis, and load flow modeling
• Skilled in reviewing and interpreting test results for medium- and high-voltage systems
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with Power BI or Python is a strong plus
• Self-driven and capable of independently executing technical tasks

Additional Information:
• This is primarily an office-based role with occasional travel to field locations
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet requirements for unescorted access to NERC/CIP sites
• May require availability for after-hours and weekend on-call support
• The role is based out of Durham, NC
