Our client, a leading engineering and consulting firm specializing in critical infrastructure projects, is seeking a talented and motivated Junior Electrical Design Engineer. This full-time position is based in Washington, D.C., US , offering an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to contribute to significant projects that impact communities.

Key Responsibilities: Assist in the design and development of electrical systems for various projects, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and security systems. Prepare electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and engineering tools. Conduct research on electrical components, materials, and technologies to support design decisions. Perform calculations for load analysis, voltage drop, short circuit, and coordination studies. Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and other disciplinary teams to integrate electrical designs into overall project plans. Review project specifications and requirements to ensure designs comply with codes, standards (e.g., NEC), and client needs. Participate in site visits to gather information, observe existing conditions, and support construction administration. Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and technical reports. Support quality control processes by reviewing designs and documentation for accuracy and completeness. Contribute to the development of design standards and best practices. Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with new technologies and industry trends. Respond to RFI's (Requests for Information) and review submittals during the construction phase.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. 0-2 years of professional experience in electrical design; relevant internships or co-op experiences are highly valued. Solid understanding of fundamental electrical engineering principles, circuits, and power systems. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit for electrical design. Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC) is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn and grow within the engineering field. FE/EIT certification is highly desirable or willingness to pursue. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic project environment. Experience with electrical analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools) is a bonus.
