We leverage proprietary algorithms and data fusion to create analytical products that serve a diverse range of commercial, government, and international clients, including maritime domain awareness and spectrum monitoring.Build the world’s first RF-Derived Geospatial Analytics FirmWe are seeking a Senior FPGA Firmware Engineer to join our Processing team, which develops cross-domain systems for RF data collection and geolocation. Our team comprises experts in hardware, FPGA development, embedded software, software-defined radio, and cloud computing, working together to invent and implement cutting-edge algorithms for innovative products.We value candidates with strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and a passion for developing new technologies.ResponsibilitiesProvide experienced leadership in Firmware/FPGA development for signals processing systems.Develop and analyze digital signal processing algorithms and architectures, implementing them in hardware platforms.Complete RFNOC board bring-up on custom hardware based on Zynq Ultrascale for RF payload missions.Support upgrades of RFNOC on existing Zynq 7000-based RF Payloads in orbit.Design and build embedded systems to enhance RF collection capabilities for software-defined radios.Collaborate with processing engineers to convert software signal processing components into FPGA firmware and RFNOC blocks for on-orbit processing.Create and maintain tools and automated systems for reliable FPGA build and test processes across multiple hardware targets.Minimum Qualifications8+ years of professional experience.B.S. in Electrical Engineering (M.S. preferred).5+ years in hardware description languages such as Verilog or VHDL.5+ years programming in C or C++.Proficiency in Python for algorithm design and prototyping.Experience designing, optimizing, and implementing DSP systems on programmable FPGA hardware.Experience developing software for custom hardware utilizing Xilinx Zynq 7000 and Ultrascale SoCs.Experience with FPGA infrastructure and high-bandwidth transport mechanisms like DMA, SSDs, and 10Gig Ethernet.Experience supporting mission-critical applications and remote hardware support.Strong attention to detail and a passion for quality work.Team-oriented attitude and good communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with open source RFNOC and UHD projects, especially contributions or committee involvement.Curiosity and willingness to learn new solutions.Experience working in fast-paced, small-company environments where priorities shift rapidly.Dedication and willingness to work extra hours when needed.Interest in mentoring junior engineers.Cultural FitAbility to thrive in a small, dynamic environment.Good collaboration skills across various disciplines (Legal, HR, etc.).Sense of humor and proactive problem-solving mindset.HawkEye 360, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate based on race, creed, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, sex, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
