This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact power generation and energy infrastructure projects across the utility-scale sector, including gas generation, renewables, battery storage, and transmission systems. You will act as a technical advisor and owner’s engineer, supporting complex electrical engineering decisions throughout the full project lifecycle. The position involves close collaboration with developers, utilities, lenders, and investors, ensuring that engineering designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. You will participate in reviewing and shaping EPC proposals, technical specifications, and detailed electrical system designs. Operating in a fast-paced consulting environment, you will influence critical infrastructure investments while supporting clients in delivering reliable and cost-effective energy solutions. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys both technical depth and client-facing advisory work.

Accountabilities:

  • Serve as a technical expert supporting owner’s engineer engagements for utility-scale power generation and energy storage projects
  • Prepare and review EPC RFP packages, technical specifications, and procurement documentation for major electrical equipment and systems
  • Evaluate EPC contractor proposals and provide recommendations to support selection and negotiation processes
  • Review and provide technical input on electrical design packages, including power systems for thermal, renewable, and storage projects
  • Assess and validate designs for AC/DC systems, collection systems, substations, and transmission interconnections
  • Support technical discussions and negotiations with EPC contractors, developers, utilities, and financial stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance, performance, and reliability standards are met across all electrical engineering deliverables
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, leveraging modern tools and automation where applicable

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in utility-scale power or energy storage project design
  • Experience working on EPC projects or as part of an Owner’s Engineer team is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of power systems including generation, transmission, substations, and auxiliary systems
  • Experience with thermal generation systems (particularly combined cycle gas plants) is a plus
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and protection systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate, influence, and guide engineering teams and clients
  • Familiarity with modern engineering tools, automation, or programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Excel) is an advantage
  • Ability to operate in a client-facing consulting environment with high attention to detail and accountability
