About the position

EchoStar Corporation is seeking an Entry Level Components Engineer to join our Hughes Network Systems division, located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD. This position is part of our Hardware Engineering team, which is engaged in the research and development of cutting-edge satellite communication equipment and systems. The role involves engineering electro-mechanical solutions to electronic packaging challenges at various levels, including chip, board, and enclosure levels. A significant focus of the team is on custom indoor and outdoor enclosure design for circuit boards. As a member of the R&D Hardware engineering design team, you will be involved in new Component Requests, Specification Control drawings, Source Control drawings, and Alternate Item Drawings. Your responsibilities will include researching equivalent materials, archiving and maintaining component and material data in the SAP database, and reviewing and approving Engineering Change Notices. You will also implement changes to Component Engineering documentation as needed and collaborate with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing groups within the company to achieve required objectives. Additionally, you will advise on supplier component roadmaps and technology advancements, bringing recent industry innovations into product designs.

Responsibilities
• Participate in new Component Requests and Specification Control drawings/definition.

• Research equivalent materials and maintain component/material data in the SAP database.

• Collaborate with electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing groups to achieve objectives.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical field.

• Experience reading and understanding datasheets and comparing components for equivalency.
,
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• Experience working as a component engineer.

• Working knowledge of types of electrical and electronic components used in communications products.

• Excellent communication and people skills.

• Comfortable working with a database and maintaining component data.

• Exposure to a variety of materials (metals, plastics, chemicals).

• Knowledge of EU environmental regulations such as RoHS, REACH, and WEEE.
