We are looking for a Smart Buildings Energy Services Energy Engineer Intern. The position will be based at our Washington, D.C. area branch, located in Beltsville, MD. Internship Program start dates are: May 19, June 2, June 9, 2025. During this 10-week internship program, you will rotate through various departments at the local branch office, focusing on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure. 60% of your time will be spent on energy engineering-related activities (learning how HVAC systems impact energy usage, energy engineering calculations, strategies for reducing building energy consumption for our customers, on-the-job training, and shadowing, etc.). 40% of your time will be spent with the sales department learning how we go-to-market and sell our solutions and services. You may get experience rotating through our core business segments, which includes HVAC, Fire/Life Safety, Security, and Energy/Sustainability Systems. The goal of this internship program is to develop future talent for the Siemens organization and help you identify where you may be interested in pursuing a career at Siemens post-graduation.
Responsibilities
• Provide project development assistance to sell stand-alone energy service projects or development of LEED sustainable solutions
,
• Review project specifications, drawings, and project-specific documents to establish an energy efficient solution for our customers
,
• Support facility site visits and communicate basic design concepts with outside vendors, consultants, or Siemens Project Managers as it pertains to the scope of the FIMs (facility improvement measures)
,
• Support preliminary and detailed facility audits to identify FIMs and/or opportunities
,
• Take or supervise equipment measurements, data logging, and equipment trending necessary to develop energy savings opportunity
,
• Directly work with Energy Services staff with building energy simulation programs or excel spreadsheet calculations to determine project energy savings as well as analyze operational costs to identify operational savings
,
• Support the development of preliminary and final energy services proposals
,
• Participate in client meetings and presentations
,
• Rotate through other departments within the branch office to learn about how our branch organization operates
,
• Attend virtual executive discussions and events with other interns to develop a sense of what a career at Siemens is all about
Requirements
• Majors: Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy/Sustainability and Built Environment, Computer Science, Business Administration
,
• Current sophomore or junior undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
,
• Earliest Graduation Date: August 2025
,
• Ability to work 40-hours per week for the 10-week program (May-July or June - August)
,
• Must be willing and able to work at the location on-site and surrounding local area. There is no relocation or housing stipend for this program
,
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company or school sponsorship. This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1 and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.

Benefits
• The hourly pay range for this position is $22 - $26 per hour, based off of your projected graduation year
