Position: Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineer (EMC)

Support design of Electrical/Electronic (E/E) commodities/subsystems with respect to Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). The engineer will be responsible for review, assessment, and supplier feedback regarding the commodity circuit design and printed circuit board (PCB) layout. The engineer will also work with Ford suppliers to develop EMC test plans and monitor EMC validation testing. Collaboration with Ford electronics product development teams and EMC vehicle application teams is essential to ensure robust design.

Responsibilities include:
• Providing EMC technical support to programs and product design teams.
• Overseeing EMC lab testing at the product level.
• Verifying results and signing off for compliance.
• Leading resolution of end product issues detected during tests.
• Developing commodity-specific EMC requirements.
• Reviewing and approving component EMC test plans.
• Reviewing test data and providing risk assessments.
• Participating in technical reviews for all commodities.
• Conducting EMC Design Reviews of components and wiring/packaging.
• Using analytical methods, CAE tools, and empirical testing to assess robustness.
• Collaborating with suppliers on design proposals and system tradeoffs.
• Supporting vehicle engineers in resolving component-related issues.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 2+ years of EMC experience in E/E commodity design and validation, or an MSEE with focus on RF systems and electromagnetics.
• Experience with electrical test equipment like spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and signal generators.
• Self-starter, motivated, and able to work independently.
• Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
• Goal-oriented team player with good interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.

Preferred:
• MSEE with RF focus and 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills leveraging electromagnetic theory.
• NARTE Certified EMC Engineer.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
