Introduction

A leading international engineering company is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support electrical systems within a modern steel manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for electrical design, plant reliability, automation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and capital projects to ensure safe and efficient production.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, maintain and optimise electrical systems within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Support plant reliability through preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, automation and control system faults.
  • Manage PLCs, motors, drives, instrumentation and power distribution systems.
  • Lead electrical improvement and capital projects from design through commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality and engineering standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to minimise downtime and improve equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance and engineering teams to drive operational efficiency, cost savings and continuous improvement.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Afrikaans (native language proficiency), min requirement.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years' experience in heavy industrial, steel or any manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, PLCs, automation, motors, VSDs, instrumentation, and maintenance.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.
