Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Contract
Location: Onsite – Mossville, IL
Position Overview
This position offers an opportunity to work on high-current, high-voltage, and high-temperature component testing for electric drive systems. The role focuses on hands-on test development, execution, data analysis, and collaboration with global teams to ensure reliable and effective component development in high-power applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct hands-on testing of components such as current sensors, DC link capacitors, power modules, and PCBs.
• Lead full-cycle test activities: test planning, documentation, fixture setup, execution, data analysis, and reporting.
• Perform failure analysis and provide recommendations.
• Review engineering drawings, technical requirements, and specifications.
• Apply quality tools: FMEA, APQP, and PPAP.
• Assist in supplier development; some travel to suppliers may be required.
Team Collaboration
• Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), test engineers, and technicians.
• Regular interaction with global teams (India and China) for electrical design, print releases, and 3D modeling.
Work Environment
• Split between office and lab settings.
• Hands-on, test-heavy role with exposure to high-voltage and thermal environments.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience
• OR
• Master’s degree in Engineering with 3+ years of experience
Technical Skills
Required:
• Direct experience with high-power component testing for electric drives.
• Proficient in creating and executing test plans, including setup, tools, measurement, analysis, and reporting.
• Experience using:
• Dataloggers
• Oscilloscopes
• High-voltage differential probes
• Current transducers
• Thermal chambers
• High-voltage/current power supplies
Desired:
• Cross-functional experience (electrical, mechanical, thermal, quality, manufacturing, purchasing).
• Skilled in Python, MATLAB, and Excel for test data analysis.
• Experience with double-pulse testing for power modules.
• Ability to estimate time/resources for test plan execution.
• Interest in developing new testing tools and methods.
Soft Skills
Required:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
Desired:
• Experience working with international teams (India, China, Europe)
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
