Electrical & Commissioning Engineer (Transformer Replacement Project - Offshore)
Project: Replacement Transformer LQ 3rd Floor, PRP Platform (Offshore)
Location: Offshore Platform (PRP) and Chonburi Operations Center
Contract Type: Project-Based / Contract Position
Job Summary
Responsible for planning, supervising, and executing the replacement of an existing transformer with a new 112.5 kVA dry-type transformer at PTT's offshore platform. The role includes engineering design review, installation supervision, electrical testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, safety compliance, and project documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Planning
- Develop and review Method Statement, Switching Plan, Testing & Commissioning Plan, and Energization Plan.
- Coordinate outage and switching activities with relevant stakeholders.
- Review transformer specifications, drawings, and electrical calculations.
- Prepare risk assessments and work execution procedures before site activities begin.
Installation & Construction
- Supervise dismantling of the existing transformer and associated equipment.
- Oversee installation of the new transformer and support structure modifications.
- Supervise power cable, control cable, grounding, and termination works.
- Ensure all installation activities comply with engineering standards and offshore requirements.
Testing & Commissioning
- Conduct and witness electrical testing activities, including:
- Insulation Resistance Test (IR)
- Transformer Turns Ratio Test (TTR)
- Winding Resistance Test
- Functional Testing
- Site Acceptance Test (SAT)
- Lead commissioning and energization activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during startup.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and submit daily progress reports.
- Update engineering drawings and As-Built Documentation.
- Compile commissioning records and Final Report.
- Coordinate project close-out documentation and warranty support.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with PTT SSHE requirements and offshore safety regulations.
- Participate in Permit to Work (PTW), Toolbox Talk, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Monitor contractor safety performance and compliance.
- Support waste management and environmental compliance activities.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in:
- Transformer installation and replacement
- Electrical testing and commissioning
- Power systems in industrial facilities
- Offshore, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Gas Plant, or Power Plant experience will be highly preferred.
Professional Requirements
- Professional Engineering License (กว.) preferred.
- Ability to prepare Method Statements and Commissioning Documents.
- Knowledge of UL, NEMA, IEC, IEEE, or equivalent electrical standards.
- Experience with 480V power distribution systems is an advantage.
