Wood is recruiting for an Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) to join its Projects West business focusing on Minerals & Metals. This opportunity is based in Trail, BC. This is an entry level position suitable to recent university graduates or graduates with up to 4 years of experience. ResponsibilitiesTypical responsibilities
- Work with Senior Engineers and Designers to complete projects and grow your skills in the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls fields
- Gain an understanding of the Canadian electrical Code and how to apply it to systems design
- Prepare engineering lists, specifications and datasheets to support construction and equipment procurement packages
- Complete 2D drafting for Electrical and Instrumentation packages such as single line diagrams, motor control schematics and loop diagrams. Some design work of these packages will also be required
- Assist with the creation of design calculations to support designs. These may include voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill, heat trace requirements, etc.
- Co-ordinate drawing packages for issue and prepare issue folders for electronic files

Expected:
- Electrical Engineering (BSc) degree
- 2 - 4 years of experience; primarily for supporting electrical engineering projects.
- Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- 2D CAD drafting and designing skills, particularly of logic circuits and power circuits, using AutoCAD is considered an asset.
- Familiarity on using power system software to perform calculations is beneficial (e.g. ETAP).
- Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility.
- Able to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks in a highly scheduled environment.
- Ability to register as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in the province of British Colombia.
