We are hiring an Electrical Engineer to design and commission hardware for satellite production manufacturing and test applications.
This is a highly collaborative position that interfaces with Project Kuiper production, engineering, and IT infrastructure teams.
Key job responsibilities
- Work with design, manufacturing, and production teams to create solutions to improve production safety, quality, and rate.
- Architectural design of industrial controls - component selection and control panel layout.
- Electrical schematics for industrial controls systems - using the GSE Automation ECAD environment and standards, produce high quality documentation for end-users.
- Motion control applications - apply knowledge of pneumatics, electric motors, and closed loop control to design electromechanical automation systems.
- Industrial control programming - configuration and software for PLC, HMI, and data acquisition.
- Commissioning, troubleshooting, training, and long-term ownership for industrial control systems that you design and deliver to production.

This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position. You will work with leaders in multiple technology areas across Project Kuiper to define and develop automation systems to meet the program needs. In addition, you will be responsible for project management, cost estimates and scheduling. You’ll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your product’s performance, quality and cost. About the team
The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) team is responsible for designing and commissioning automation and tooling for satellite testing and production. This in-house team of engineers work directly with satellite designers, production teams, and manufacturing engineers to solve unique problems in high-volume satellite production.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- 3+ years industrial system design - control layout and schematics
- 3+ years experience in the field with installing, commissioning, and trouble-shooting industrial equipment
- Expert knowledge with a wide range of industrial control equipment and precision measurements including sensors, pneumatics, vision systems, fieldbuses, PID Controllers, etc.
- Experience programming and designing HMI, SCADA and other control network components
- Experience applying electrical design standards such as NEC, NFPA 79, UL508A, and ISO 13849
- Experience with IT systems like IP Networking, Server Architecture, SQL Databases, and cloud technology.
- Additional high-level programming skills (C#, Python, SQL)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
