Description

As part of the Digital Services Surface Engineering team, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for the development, integration, commercialization, and lifecycle support of industrial measurement, sensing, data acquisition, gas detection, and control systems. This position offers opportunities to work on embedded electronics, sensors, communications, hazardous-area products, and integrated hardware/software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and commercialize electrical and electromechanical products from concept through production release.
  • Define system architecture and integrate hardware, software, controls, sensors, communication interfaces, and mechanical subsystems into complete operational solutions.
  • Develop, test, and debug embedded firmware and support hardware/software integration activities.
  • Create and execute verification and validation plans, including laboratory and field testing.
  • Support product certification efforts for hazardous locations, EMC, electrical safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and project teams to support product launches and ongoing product improvements.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support through troubleshooting, root cause analysis, reliability improvements, corrective actions, and component obsolescence management.
  • Research emerging technologies and evaluate new design approaches to improve product performance, reliability, and competitiveness.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Firmware development experience using C/C++ and embedded systems.
  • Experience with sensors, signal conditioning, data acquisition, and industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with Modbus, CAN, Ethernet, RS-485, or similar industrial communication protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting hazardous locations or other certification activities.
  • Experience with hazardous area products and industrial instrumentation.
