TalentBridgeElectrical Engineer - Power Electronics & Motor Controllers (All Levels)
Location: Hybrid - Charlottesville, VA area
Compensation: $115,000 - $200,000 base, depending on experience level, plus benefits
Employment Type: Full-time
About the Company
We're a fast-growing aerospace and power electronics company building the critical hardware inside next-generation uncrewed aerial systems. Our products, motor controllers, power electronics, and flight systems, power military drone platforms that are actively flying today. We've moved past the prototype stage into real production, with revenue tripling as we scale, and we're building out our engineering team quickly to keep pace with customer demand.
About the Role
We're hiring Electrical Engineers across multiple levels, from early-career through senior, to support the design, development, and testing of our motor controller and power electronics product lines. Whether you're early in your career looking to build real hands-on design experience, or a seasoned engineer ready to own a product from architecture through release, we have a place for you. We're less focused on exact years of experience and more focused on genuine design fundamentals, if you understand circuits and have real hands-on design instincts, we're willing to train on the rest.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop power electronics hardware, including motor controllers, inverters, and related power stages, from concept through release
- Perform schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium preferred) for high-voltage, mixed-signal boards
- Select topologies and components, including wide-bandgap devices (SiC/GaN) where applicable, and reason through associated design trade-offs
- Support or lead worst-case circuit analysis, thermal management, and EMI/EMC design considerations
- Support prototype bring-up, validation, and production test alongside our test and firmware teams
- Interface with firmware engineers on hardware-software integration, timing, and control-loop implementation
- Produce and maintain design documentation, change records, and test evidence to support a growing, increasingly formal quality system
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, test, and program management as designs move toward production
What We're Looking For
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Real, demonstrated design fundamentals, schematic capture, circuit analysis, and a genuine understanding of how your designs behave in the real world
- Any level of experience is welcome: from entry-level engineers with strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn, to senior engineers ready to own full subsystems or products
- Power electronics, motor drives, or high-voltage design experience is a strong plus, but not required, we're open to engineers from adjacent backgrounds (analog design, embedded systems, industrial controls, etc.) who want to grow into this space
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, hands-on environment where your work ships and matters
- Familiarity with Altium, SPICE-based simulation tools, or similar EDA software is a plus
Why Join Us
This is a chance to work on hardware that actually flies, at a company small enough that your contributions are visible and your growth isn't capped by layers of bureaucracy. We're scaling fast, which means real ownership, real responsibility, and real room to grow your career alongside the company.
