The PPG site in Amsterdam is a key production facility within PPG’s European network. The plant operates in a complex industrial environment with critical electrical installations where safety, reliability, and continuity are essential.

The Role

For our production plant in Amsterdam, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer who will also act as the Operational Installation Responsible (OIV).

In this key role, you are responsible for the safe and reliable operation of all electrical installations at our PPG Amsterdam site. You also play an important part in the engineering and execution of electrical CAPEX and OPEX projects.

You act as the main technical point of contact for electrical engineering within the plant and work closely with Maintenance, Operations, EHS, and external partners.

Your Responsibilities

Electrical Engineering & Projects

• Design, review, and implement electrical installations and modifications
• Technical responsibility for CAPEX and OPEX projects from design to commissioning
• Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with electrical standards and documentation
• Support root cause analyses and initiate structural improvements

Operational Installation Responsible (OIV)

• Act formally as OIV in accordance with NEN 3140 / NEN 3840
• Ensure the safe operation of all electrical installations
• Prepare, review, and approve plans and work permits
• Supervise maintenance activities and contractors
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, inspections, and audits
• Actively contribute to EHS objectives and risk management

Collaboration & Leadership

• Work closely with internal departments such as Maintenance, Operations, and EHS
• Manage and supervise external suppliers and contractors
• Advise site management on safety, risks, and investments

Who Are You?

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
• Experience in CAPEX project delivery and OPEX planning
• At least 5 years experience in a similar role
• Experience in an industrial production environment is highly preferred
• Strong technical understanding of electrical engineering
• Experience as OIV or willingness to formally take on this role

• Strong knowledge of NEN 3140, NEN 3840, and relevant regulations
• High safety awareness and strong sense of responsibility
• Analytical, decisive, and strong communication skills
• Able to work independently and set priorities
• Professional working proficiency in Dutch and English
